The workshop also provides an opportunity for prospective students to explore whether the Mindful Representations Professional Development Pathway may be a good fit for them.

Through discussion, experiential exercises, demonstrations, and representations, participants explore both what happens during a representation and why particular choices are made.

The learning is experiential as well as conceptual. Participants may gain greater insight into their own lives, relationships, and recurring patterns while also developing capacities that can be applied professionally.

Focus of This Particular Workshop

Previous workshops have focused largely on the pre-representation interview — bringing mindful presence, a solution focus, and a systemic orientation to understanding the person and the problem.

This workshop takes the next step: into the representation itself.

We will explore what to notice, what to trust, what to question, when to intervene, and when to wait, as we move toward resolution.

There will be a strong practical emphasis on using representational work in individual one-to-one practice, as well as in groups.

What Will We Explore?

Participants are introduced to a range of concepts and capacities that underpin Mindful Representations, including:

  • Mindful presence and reflective awareness
  • Phenomenological observation
  • Emotional discernment
  • Systems and relational thinking
  • Recognising patterns within families, groups, and organisations
  • Balancing intuition with critical thinking
  • Understanding the role of facts, natural principles, and experiential information
  • Reflective restraint and tolerance of uncertainty
  • The importance of humility in representational work

The workshop also explores how representations can be understood through multiple lenses, including mindfulness, psychology, family systems thinking, relational processes, and metaphor.

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is suitable for:

  • People seeking personal insight and growth
  • Participants who would like a deeper understanding of Mindful Representations
  • Therapists, counsellors, psychologists, social workers, coaches, educators, healthcare practitioners, and other helping professionals
  • Those considering future facilitator training within the Mindful Representations Professional Development Pathway

For therapists and other helping professionals, many of the capacities explored within these workshops can be directly applied within individual sessions and other professional settings. These include developing greater phenomenological observation, emotional discernment, relational awareness, reflective restraint, and the ability to recognise patterns unfolding within complex interpersonal situations.
